From Massachusetts to Florida in 2016

So far, 2016 has been an incredible year for Joan & Joni.

We've had the pleasure of playing our tribute to Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. And in December, we'll travel back to North Carolina for two more shows.

This coming week, Kipyn and I will return to the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference, NERFA, where we met back in 2013 and where the idea for Joan & Joni was born.

With a number of shows booked already for 2017, we're excited to see what the new year will bring!

The First Year of Joan & Joni

The first year of Joan & Joni simply blew us away.

Initially, we thought we might be on to something special when Kipyn and I decided to pay tribute to our respective musical influences, Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez. But we were unprepared for the incredible reaction we would get from audiences when we performed this music, including The Circle Game, Big Yellow Taxi, Lily of the West, and Diamonds and Rust

In 2015, we played thirteen concerts from New York to North Carolina. Wherever we went, we encountered emotional and appreciative fans. During our shows, people would close their eyes and sing along. Both performers and audience-members were taken back in time, remembering the first time they heard these songs.

From the very beginning, Kipyn and I weren’t trying to impersonate Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell. Instead, we wanted to be ourselves: two professional singer/songwriters paying tribute to two musical legends in our own way. Audiences have appreciated the authenticity of those performances, and we have appreciated the opportunity to share our own music with them as well.

Starting in February, we'll be kicking off Year 2 of Joan & Joni with a return engagement at Baldwin's Station in Maryland before heading to Florida later in the month. We'll also be performing Joan & Joni in New York and the Boston area, as well as in Maryland and Virginia. We'll be adding to our itinerary as the year goes on, see our latest schedule

With gratitude and appreciation, we wish you a beautiful start to 2016 and look forward to sharing music with you this year.

J & J EP Radio Spins + America's Legendary Folk Music Coffeehouse

Hello Friends! Lately our Joan & Joni EP has been receiving some radio spins in some exciting places! Thank you to guest host Christine Lavin for airing "Morning Morgantown" this past Sunday on WFUV's Sunday Breakfast. You can listen to the archived 8/9 Sunday Breakfast show here. In July we were also honored to have had three songs make the Top 200 for The Acoustic Outpost, an acoustic and urban folk internet radio station. Thank you to host Dan Murphy for playing "The Circle Game", "Lily of the West", and "Morning Morgantown".

Also, don't miss our radio interview coming up on Sunday, August 16! We'll be chatting with Joltin' Joe Pszonek around 8:45pm during the last hour of his show, Radio Nowhere, on WMSC 90.3 FM - Upper Montclair, NJ. Listeners can tune in online by clicking the link above, and then clicking the "Live 365" link.

Speaking earlier of breakfast (not complete without coffee), we are beyond excited that Joan & Joni will be making its debut at America's legendary folk music coffeehouse, Caffe Lena, on Friday, September 18 at 8:00 pm! To share the music of legends Joan Baez & Joni Mitchell at this legendary and historic folk music venue will be an experience unlike any other. In fact neither Joan Baez nor Joni Mitchell themselves ever played at Caffe Lena! We hope you can join us for this truly unique performance. Tickets can be purchased here.

7 months of Joan & Joni

It's been an amazing 7 months since we launched Joan & Joni!

It was standing room only at the Joan & Joni world premiere on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Seekers Church in Washington, DC! We were thrilled to perform for a sold-out show of friends, family, and folk fans in an event co-sponsored by two great local organizations, the Institute of Musical Traditions and Focus Music.

Following the premiere, we played six more shows in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

We are seeing first-hand how Joan & Joni is really striking a chord in audiences around the country!
